Painting With Light

Painting With Light.a visual meditation born from a paradox. After undergoing cataract surgery, I emerged with the clearest vision I’ve had in years—colors sharpened, edges defined, light newly alive. And yet, in that very clarity, I felt drawn toward blur.

Using my iPhone’s long exposure feature, I began to create photographs that look less like documentation and more like watercolors—fluid, luminous, and unfixed. The very tool meant to freeze time instead lets it melt.

These images are not about technical precision or sharpness; they are about feeling, atmosphere, and movement. They reflect the emotional residue of a moment, not the moment itself.

I’ve long described photography as painting with light—but now, I mean it more literally. This series is a celebration of how seeing differently can inspire seeing differently. Clarity inspired these blurs. In gaining sight, I’ve learned to let go of focus.
